That guy spent the whole of our date pushing his Love the truth bomb mantra, what was he trying to prove? Get me to buy into one of his get rich schemes, by using soft mushy words.

Do you believe that the truth will set you free?

I don’t like the question. It’s a weird way to frame it.

Dr. I’m running out of names “Do you believe that the truth will set you free?”

Iam “I don’t like the question. And I don’t like it because it’s a loaded question. There’s this implicit assumption that I’m subjugated and then we get into this semantic realm where we’re trying to figure out what we’re being freed from and it’s just not all that interesting. ‘Well, through truth we’re freed from our ignorance’ and that’s just a banal answer that doesn’t really answer the question in spite of the fact that it answers the question. Beyond that you could say that ‘Well, we are all subjugated by those who lie with impunity and only the truth can free us from the illusory world they’ve created’ and that’s not very entertaining either. Better question (or more interesting as least) would be ‘What happens if you tell the truth about me?’ Do you lie to keep the devil in his cage? Even though God told you not to? Do you eat the forbidden fruit? He did tell you not to do it but he knows damn well your going to do it. You tell the truth I’m out of the cage. ‘What does he do when he’s out of the cage? What will he say? People should ignore and mock him but what happens if they don’t? I didn’t. I listen and did what he said. What does that say about me?’ Now that’s far more interesting. I had another one but I can’t quite remember...”

Let awake dogs tell the truth

Good advice, but how could the sleeping ones even say anything, untruthful or otherwise?

Saying, "Let awake dogs tell the truth" makes no more sense than verbally allowing them to fib while snoozing: dogs can't talk in any case, as we all know, and so they could not tell "lies" in any alertness-state --- i.e., whether they are asleep or up and around.

Law of the Possible Middle Truth

The principle that between any two opposing truth claims lies not just a middle ground but an infinite spectrum of possible truths that participate in both sides while being reducible to neither. Under this law, the middle isn't a compromise position—it's a vast territory of possibilities. Between "he loves me" and "he loves me not" lies not just "he loves me sometimes" but infinite variations: loves me in some ways, not in others; loves me conditionally; loves the idea of me; loves me but can't show it; loves me and also loves someone else; loves me in a way I don't recognize. The possible middle truth is where most of life actually happens—the binary poles are just the distant edges of a vast spectrum.

Example: "She asked if her job was fulfilling. Binary truth said yes or no. The law of the possible middle truth opened infinity: fulfilling in some moments, draining in others; fulfilling the mission, not the paycheck; fulfilling her skills, not her soul; fulfilling compared to past jobs, not compared to dreams. The truth was in the possible middle, not the poles. She stopped asking yes/no and started mapping the spectrum."
