October 15th is the day in which you look out for your friends. Text them nice messages, compliments, and just be there for them. (Any gender counts as a homie today.)
You: "Hey bro, its National "look out for a homie" day. You doing alright?"
Them: "Nah, are you fine with me talking about it?"
You: "Bro, of course."
Them: "Bro.."

In Humanist Gender-Neutral English, "homies" is the gender-neutral equivalent of "dudes" or "ya'll" -- in other words, a universal way to address any group comprised of any combination of genders (e.g., all men, all women, coed, etc.).
Note that the first syllable in homies is pronounced like "hom" in hominids vs. the common AAVE way so as not to be appropriative, but it should be understood with either pronunciation.
