Get the Graphicscardless mug.Not to be confused with a Graphics Whore, a Graphics Gremlin is someone who will hate on a video game for daring to have graphical fidelity below their own standards.
These type of people will often say things like "this looks like a PS2 game" or "This doesn't look as good as X". They're so caught up in graphical fidelity that they often ignore the prospect that games are art and can look any way the developers please for any purpose and that the vast majority of people care about gameplay first when it comes to a video game. Graphics Gremlins are also (but not always) console fanboys who will downplay graphical fidelity of opposing consoles releases treating it like a definitive selling point of any video game purchase and a slam-dunk argument against the product. Graphics Gremlins cannot be pleased and will often abandon favorable opinions of graphics for games they once loved as soon as a newer game comes out that surpasses it restarting their cycle of hatred.

That guy is a Graphics Gremlin, he's going out of his way to tell people not to buy a game because it doesn't meet his graphical standards instead of letting them decide for themself.

Get the Graphics Gremlin mug.The origins is a complicated story. In the demo scenes for classic computers such as but not limited to, the Commodore 64 and Amiga and other computer platforms of the era, the term has been associated with being a composite of "graphic artist and musician". In some cases, that was kind of true for some individual. It is more of a demoscene's portmanteau of GRAPHIC TECHNICIAN. Remember that graphics on computers in those days were more technical and the work of said person is more technical oriented. So a graphic technician was a graphic artist or designer but also more technical given computers were technical things. A graphic technician or graphician would sometimes need to do some coding (programming).
The Graphicians for the that Amiga demo group was awesome. Their graphics work was cool. Their mastery of dithering was great. I love to see more of it.
