There are three types of spam:
1) The canned
meat, stylized as SPAM, which became especially
popular directly following its use in World
War II.
2) On the internet, typed simply as "spam", it is when a single entity or multiple entities with a general idea repeatedly send messages to one person. These can be either as advertising, in order to entice the
target to buy something, or simply to annoy the
target in a playful way.
3) In video gaming, to use some sort of tool, item, or move with no cooldown repeatedly. It is most commonly practiced in First Person Shooters when the
player encounters a
tight situation, causing them to flip out and mash the button to unleash some sort of weapon many, many times.
Here's some more elaboration, if you would like some:
(1) Personally, I've never eaten SPAM, so I can't give you any idea of how it tastes.
(2) Advertising spam and internet scamming often go hand-in-hand. For some reason the Nigerian princes and people who want to... "enhance your passionate experiences" don't think they can
trick you with just one crappy, misspelt message.
(3) The most commonly spammed type of weapon is the grenade, although depending on the game and genre other items may take this spot.
(1) Alfredo: "What are you eating?"
Teddy: "I'm just eating some SPAM because I'm
lazy."
(2)
Hannah: "For the love of all the good things in the world, this company will NOT STOP spamming me with messages!"
(3)
Eddie: "Oh, shoot, bro... look out for that tank! Spam your grenades and run as fast as you can!"
