Rural Pornography

Cheap television programmes, especially popular on British tv on Sunday nights, which although purporting to discuss art/history/the nation's heritage/countryside affairs (tick as appropriate) actually consist of little else than scenic films of fields, sheep and lakes. Mostly used to distract miserable town-dwellers from sorry fact they have an hour long commute to a mind-rotting 8-6 job the following morning to look forward to.

Townie One: Oh shit, I've got to drive to Reading tomorrow to work in admin in a faceless office block.

Townie Two: Let's watch some rural pornography on Countryfile and pretend we're still camping in Wales.

Basement Photography

n: the photography that encompasses the theme of abandonment or neglect, such as .. your basement. Often for those who want to photograph abandoned buildings later on/cannot find an abandoned building to photograph yet, this is where they start. Basement Photography can be images of gutters, alleys, rickety stairs, parking garages, rusted street lamp posts, old rusted fence, that outdated gas pump on the corner of town, etc.

Street Photography

Take a random camera, usually an expensive dSLR or ideally a "vintage" rangefinder then take photos of any old shit in an urban environment. Random people, beggars, buildings, leaves, garbage - the subject doesn't matter, only that it has zero emotional value and you convert it to high contrast black and white before posting online.

"Aw crap my shutter button stuck down and now my memory card is full of worthless shots of town"

Intellectual Pornography

A piece of writing that is so partisan, so indifferent to ordinary standards of truth, that it isn't even propaganda. It's not attempting to convince other people, or even to strengthen and bolster the faithful. It only exists to excite the believer, in the crudest possible way; it plays to arguments so shallow they can only occur in the privacy of one's own head without mortifying embarrassment. In other words, the intellectual version of pornography.

The article on Benghazi is so full of intellectual pornography that everyone at Fox News is going to braingasm when they read it.
