Any piece of literature that is very addictive, keeping the reader from putting it down. It can also make the reader immediately want to buy the next volume in a series, if more exist.

"My friend loaned me the first books in the Transmetropolitan series and the Preacher series; they're so friggin' cool, I need to read more!"

"I know, that's some hard literature."
