If the other guy wouldn't relinquish power even if he lost, why would you concede to him? There's not much point in having higher ground to stand on if the other guy is still there telling you where and how to stand.

Conceding an election is pointless, the other guy thinks of it as weakness. The other guy is glad he ran against somebody too dumb and weak to get to where they wanted to go, that's how they look at it.
