sorcerer's apprentice mode

Like Mickey Mouse's brooms, sorcerer's apprentice mode is a computer event that triggers over and over again on its own output. There was once a time on USENET (an internet message board system) where a program was written to cancel anonymously posted messages automatically. Problem was, the canceling message was also an anonymous message which caused the program to trigger on its own output.

This actually will happen if you try to downgrade a 2.0 firmware PSP and you have Norton running...the screen real estate gets used up faster and faster with the same darn error message. This is because it gets a false positive that the downgrader is PSPBrick, then Norton quarantines the "virus" which causes it to notice the freshly quarantined virus as a new virus that was just installed seconds later, and the process repeats.

Loser mode

A recurrent, distraught feeling where a person has consistent visions of a particular unsuccessful episode. It is like a friend who keeps reminding you in a mall that you forgot to wear trousers. Loser mode is triggered by any recent temporary failures or references to that particular episode. It may be composed of a number of recollections of such similar events which leads to self loathing as the person looks at himself as evolutionarily unfit and deems himself a social loser. In certain cases, a competitively lesser mortal tends to surpass the subject in the event in his performance, thereby making the subject lose complete sanity. In such cases, loser mode advances to epic-fail loser mode which is the real world equivalent of a limbo dream state.

Hard Working Person: "Crap!This paper contains questions similar to those in my previous screwed up paper. Loser mode activated."

Deserving Person: "Crap!I didn't get the job because I wasn't the preferred sex needed to 'maintain gender equality' in the organization. Loser mode activated."

Undeserving idiot: "I got the job by having correct guesses in the test paper, and having sexual bias in the interviews. Undeserving winner mode activated."

Flight mode

A feature on many modern-day smartphones that disconnects from all networks. Originally intended for when boarding an aircraft but can also be used when you want to temporarily avoid someone by not letting him/her reach you via phone/text based means.
