Emotional Color Blindness

Just as color perception (and in turn blindness) exists on a spectrum, so too does the ability to experience emotions.

Most people who experience color deficiency, do not have issues with all color (red and green are most common). Color blindness can also come with heightened awareness in other areas...like better than average night vision or a keener sense of smell.

These details parallel well when describing people with emotional deficiencies, in that:

(1.) Someone on the spectrum for narcissistic traits, often still keenly feels rage, envy, hatred and fear.

(2.) Narcissists experience the above emotions more often and at greater intensity than the average person, BECAUSE they lack the ability to feel other emotions (like empathy) which might otherwise (ironically) diminish and balance those feelings out.

(3.) Even a full blown psychopath with no neurotypical fear response, (I.E. only feels an adrenaline rush) is not 100% emotionally colorblind. They still experience pleasure in a limited, ego driven sort of way. If this were not the case, they would have no motivation to do anything, (including anything bad.)

(4.) Total lack of emotional feeling and complete colorblindness, are both incredibly rare, and can signal something more serious...like a brain injury or a neurological condition.

I've never heard someone say they wish they were colorblind, but I've heard a ton of people say they wish they lacked certain feelings, because they think it would solve all their problems. This is kind of like thinking you could avoid getting stuck in traffic if you no longer saw the red in a red light. Emotion is not the heart of the problem.

Emotional color blindness might very well take away things like: codependence, trauma responses and making personal sacrifices for conscientious decisions...but it would also diminish your capacity for joy and your ability to have meaningful relationships with anybody.

Better to sort out the kinks, then throw the whole baby out with the bathwater.

Mental Blindness

Not to be confused with mind-blindness.
The inability to see certain things due to them being excluded from your vision by your brain. This is most common with things that obscure your vision or are unnecessary for you to see but it can potentially happen to anything. For some people, they will be able to see it after either looking again or having it pointed out to them but some people will still be unable to see it. Mental blindness can play a part in some optical illusions.

Despite looking at the entire map, I could not see the part with my location due to my mental blindness.

blind ambition

Typically ambition is a good thing, it's something that drives you to achieve your goals and improve yourself.

But blind ambition is when someone becomes so fixated in their ambitions that they ignore everything and everyone around them. They become blinded by their own ambition, or at least inflicted with tunnel vision. This causes them to neglect taking care of themselves and their relationships.

Joe: Holy shit Carl, you look bad. You look like you haven't slept in 3 days, and your clothes are a mess. You okay there? What the hell happened? You gotta take care of yourself man!

Carl: Don't... matter. Yeah... I spent... eh... 3 days straight... without sleep... renovating... my coffee shop... so what? I have ambitions... Joe... it's gonna be... the best coffee shop in the whole city!

Rick: Hey Carl, we've been calling you over the last few days and you haven't responded until now. I get that you're trying to improve your business, but you can't let your blind ambition destroy your life!

Carl: Hey... shut up... screw you... I'm not gonna... let you... get in... my way... of... *Carl slumps down and falls asleep on the table*

Running a blind red

Run a red light without checking the surrounding to make sure it's safe to run a red light and causing a crash.

That man was an idiot for running a blind red and because of that the bus driver and kids are now six feet under.

Blind Racism

When someone perceives all actions of another race as bad and/or evil regardless of reality. This could also be considered violently racist. People who are blindly racist are unable to find fault in their own actions towards others of a different race.

Through Blind Racism, the man saw no fault in his own actions as he executed an innocent man of a different race.
