passive progressive

A term developed by Red Letter Media, referring specifically to a media company that celebrates liberal ideas (such as diversity, tolerance, or pro-LGBT rhetoric) exclusively when and where it benefits them but not going all in as to also profit from countries that censor those messages. This can be done in ways such as adding a pro-LGBT scene that can be easily edited out for the localization in China, Russia, or another country that would censor liberal messages.
Disney's decision to add two lesbians kissing on camera in The Rise of Skywalker was endearing, but ultimately a passive progressive tactic since the scene was edited out in China and Russia.

Coca-cola's decision to support the end of Apartheid in South Africa appeared passive progressive to many detractors. Until, that is, they pulled all holdings out of South Africa - sacrificing profits to stand in solidarity with the protestors.

Progressophobia

"That’s the phrase coined by Steven Pinker to describe a brain disorder that strikes liberals and makes them incapable of recognizing progress... It’s like situational blindness, only what you can’t see is that your dorm in 2021 is better than the South before the Civil War.” - Comedian Bill Maher
“If you think America is more racist now than ever, more sexist than before women could vote, and more homophobic than when blow jobs were a felony, you have Progressophobia and you should adjust your mask because its covering your eyes." - Comedian Bill Maher

"...saying White Power and privilege is at an all-time high, is just ridiculous. Higher than a century ago, the year of the Tulsa Race Massacre? Higher than the years when the KKK road unchecked and Jim Crow went unchallenged? Higher than the 1960s, when the Supremes and Willie Mays still couldn't stay in the same hotel as the white people they were working with? Higher than during Slavery? And I mean actual Slavery, not Prince doesn't like his contract Slavery." - Comedian Bill Maher

progressive metal

Prog metal for short. A sub genre of music that combines the almost jazz-like progression of progressive rock and the agression, volume, speed, and heaviness of metal. Usually features band members who are incredibly skilled at their instruments. Features rapid key changes, odd time signatures, and bombastic instrumental sections. It could be defined as "intelligent metal".

progressive house

A term used to describe forward thinking electronic house music originating in the UK in the early 90's. Originally coined as a joke by a Mixmag journalist, it came to describe the sound championed by Sasha & John Digweed at Renaissance, Venue 44, Mansfield in the early 90's. "Renaissance - The Mix Collection" released in 1994 was the first ever DJ mix album, and defined the "progressive house" sound, taking in elements of trance and U.S. house. Other prominent DJ's in the "progressive house" scene include Dave Seaman, Nick Warren and James Zabiela.

progressive breaks

Not really considered to be an official genre, and not really as much of a combination of the two genres (progressive house and breakbeat) as it is to destinguish itself from Breakbeat in it's Hip Hop influenced form - where more of the emphasis is on being funky.

A Prog Breaks fan is more often a discerning listener and a thinker. Typical features of Prog Breaks include:
> Tidily composed, cleverly arranged beats
> A variety of texture (rough, smooth, sharp, flat)
> Ingenuity and innovation in synthetic sound
> A breakdown of some kind (for a few seconds), where the artist has let their creativity loose with upfront synth sounds or with a crazy, unpredictable bout of broken beats set to send your mind boggling.

Notable artists include (but definately not restricted to) - Hybrid, Luke Chable, Phil K, Andy Page, Burufunk, Grayarea.
