A phrase meaning "I do the same" or "same." Abbreviation of "literally ditto." On state and formal occasions such as when in white tie, black tie, morning dress, court dress or full dress uniform, or an any occasion of more formality than is usual for the speaker (funeral, dinner party of more than 4 persons, garden party) the phrase may be augmented to befit the state nature of the circumstance whence it becomes "literally ditterally."
