When you are walking somewhere with a group of people and you are addressing one friend in particular,but a stranger catches your eye and you make that comment directly to them instead.

Your friend Jason makes a crude gesture

(while a women emerges from a store in front of you, catching your eye)
you respond to Jason by saying
"I never want to see your face again"
but you are still looking at the strange women
Then you say
"oh that was a really bad residual comment"

When someone makes a rational commentary that makes a person or organization to look very bad; but it doesn't use insults nor is racist nor homophobic, so the person or organization use the "toxicity" scapegoat instead of addressing the problem.

Allows your drunk taxi friend to take payment for services via your credit card. Before he drops you off, he'll know whether your credit card is good or not.

Frank picked Jon up from Bumpys and took him home. Jon flashed his credit card, but Frank had no idea whether the card was good. Therefore, he go mobile commerce'd it up and took payment before Jon went inside. The card was good and Frank was happy. Both Frank and Jon slept well at night.
