Doing something not well, losing having a hard time. I.e. heard on the Tony Kornheiser Show

He went 0 for 4 at the plate last night. He really “flushed the mouse”. They really “flushed the mouse” when they lost by 31 points. He was on his dream date and “flushed the mouse with her by acting like an idiot. No second date for him.
