Crony Democracy

A political system where democratic institutions exist in form but are hollowed out by networks of personal connections, patronage, and reciprocal favoritism among elites. Elections happen, parliaments meet, constitutions are cited—but power flows through informal networks of cronies who reward loyalty over competence and use public office for private enrichment. It's democracy in name, oligarchy in practice, and farce in execution. The public is given the appearance of choice while the real decisions are made in golf clubs, boardrooms, and family gatherings. Crony democracy is what happens when liberal democratic forms survive but their substance—accountability, competition, rule of law—has been captured by a connected few.
Example: "The country had elections, a parliament, and a constitution, but every minister was a relative or business partner of the president. Crony democracy: the form of democracy with the substance of a family business."

Social Democracy

ˈsō-shəl ˌdeməˈkrasē

A political system that balances capitalism with a strong commitment to social justice and welfare. It aims to regulate the market economy to prevent exploitation, reduce inequality, and guarantee fundamental rights like universal healthcare, education, and workers' protections. It believes democracy isn't just about voting but also about ensuring everyone has the real means to participate in society. Social Democracy tries to create a fairer society without dismantling capitalism entirely, promoting gradual reform over revolution.

You're a threat to everyone tho.
Journalist: Are you a Communist?

Olof Palme: No, I am a Social Democrat.

Journalist: Are you a Socialist?

Olof Palme: Again, I am a Social Democrat.

Journalist: Soo, a capitalist?

Olof Palme: Dumbass, I am apart of Social Democracy, and I am in a Social Democratic party.

Civil Democracy

A type of government in which the people vote on laws directly as opposed to a representative democracy where representatives vote for them.
A representative democracy isn't a true democracy. A true democracy would be a civil democracy.

Post-Democratic Theokakifascoligatocracy

The clusterfuck of Theocracy, Kakistocracy, Fascism, Oligarchy, and Corporatocracy that the American government is becoming, all stemming from the dismissal of democracy and the use of unfair and outdated vote counting processes like gerrymandering and the Electoral College that give greater power to smaller states per capita and whiter populations per congressional district.
"What is going on in the big ol' USofA these days?"

"Oh, not much. It's just becoming a Post-Democratic Theokakifascoligatocracy. No biggie."

Crony Democracy

Crony Democracy is a sham political system that maintains the outward appearance of a democracy—elections, parties, a constitution—but where real power, wealth, and policy are shaped by a tight, corrupt network of connections between the ruling political class and their favored business elites.

In a crony democracy, your success depends less on merit, public support, or fair competition, and more on who you know, who you’ve bribed, or which politician you went to school with. The government uses regulation, state contracts, and public resources to reward allies and punish opponents, while keeping up a theatrical performance of legitimate democratic process for the voters and the international community.
Don't be fooled by the elections here; it's a total crony democracy. The president's cousin got the billion-dollar infrastructure contract, his major donor's company pays no taxes, and the opposition can't even get airtime on TV.
