When you commit something that embarrasses yourself, you say self serve to alleviate yourself of that act.

Coming from the gay ball scene in New York, serving body is having a particularly appealing body shape. It is primarily used to refer to drag queens who successfully use tight-fitting or revealing outfits to create a convincing feminine illusion, but was also used in early years to describe fit men before the term entered into the mainstream. Due to the influence of RuPaul's Drag Race star Alyssa Edwards, additional "-ody"s may be added to the end of the phrase for emphasis.
Person 1: "Did you see how tight her tuck was in that swimsuit? And her legs!"
Person 2: "I know, she's serving body-ody-ody tonight!"
