Goomba is the phonetic spelling of the term "cumpà", which is the way people from Southern Italy used to pronounce the word "compare", that is "godfather". From the original sense it was gradually extended to mean a friend, a partner, etc.

Gloom Metal

A rare strand of Metal music (Genre) characterised by muted irregular drum beats, lead bass guitar in a downbeat style with an accompanying echoic low volume guitar, generating an ambience of potent despair. Generally includes throaty/nasal vocals of a gloomy persuasion.
Live performances are largely of low amplification in venues of poor acoustic tombre.
Fanbase tend to be reclusive and tend to go out on overcast days and evenings.
Popular bands include Spousa Lid, Rainy Day and Pension Collection.

If you've ever seen the Super Mario Bros. Movie, then you've seen the giant goombas. The goomba effect is is wen the person's head is abnormally small for their body, just like the goomba.
