Nigger 

Nigger is a pejorative term and common ethnic slur against black people, and is English slang. In denoting “black person”, nigger originated as a variant of the Spanish and Portuguese noun "negro" (meaning black), which was derived from the Latin adjective "niger" (meaning black). The pejorative, racist meaning has been recognized and criticized as such since the nineteenth century, yet remained in general global use until the 1960s and 1970s. In U.S. popular culture and slang, the word nigger remains current usage, yet remains a racist slur. Other related words such as coon and boong originate from Australian-English terms used to describe the native aboriginal people of Australia.

Nigger 

Nigger is a term referring to people who have black or dark skin. This term comes from Latin (niger-a-um) meaning black. Hence Niger River (Black River). This can be used in a derogatory manner to insult black people. However this is the only official racial slur that actually has a definition and meaning concerning the skin color of blacks. This can be used racially and literally, only some people dislike the term for it's uncomfortable and MODERN slur meaning. Some people who do not have dark or black skin are afraid to use this term to describe actual black people because of the hating message it may convey, but blacks are allowed by some unconventional authority to use this term among themselves and use other racial slurs which do not officially concern whites (cracker). This is not technically a racial slur. But anyone can take something so simple and general and be offended by it so sometimes it seems that it is better not to talk at all, lest we offend someone, somehow.

Hey look at that nigger over there! (racially slurred)
