Calendar Friend 

The term for a close friend whom you used to hang out with often, but now see only rarely such as at birthday parties for mutual friends and other special social events. Often these encounters are awkward as mutual friends bring you together obligatorially, not voluntarily.

Friend 1: "Have you seen or spoken to Bob at all?"

Friend 2: "No, I haven't. We used to hang all the time, but kind of had a falling out and we don't talk all that much any more. He's just a calendar friend."

Someone that you hang out with, you like but you wouldn't class as a friend and you spend too much time together to be just acquaintances. You're not colleagues or family and there is no sex involved.

Maybe you snogged at a party once but there was no spark or you bonded over your shared love of The Manchurian Candidate but that's where your commonality ends. You're comfortable grabbing a coffee with them when no-one else is available but would never dream of crying on their shoulder, discussing your hot and heavy date life or even letting slip where you live. Coined from the terms imaginary friend and friend with benefits , an imaginary friend with benefits is most commonly found when a person is single, although it is not necessarily restricted to those outwith a relationship . They person will create an imaginary person that they will regularly engage in raunchy sexual activities with during either masturbation sessions or dreams. The qualifying features of a friend with benefits is that said person must be fully fabricated (not a celebrity or someone you know) and that they are a regular part of your self-pleasure routines.

Person 1: Did you hear Glen got a girlfriend?
Person 2: That's not a girlfriend - she's an imaginary friend with benefits. She only exists when he needs a little personal time.
