treholt

treholt, a word Norwegians are not very proud of having given to the world: it derives from Arne Treholt, a notorious Norwegian traitor who collaborated with the communists during the Cold War, and who was convicted of spying for the KGB in 1985 and sentenced to 20 years in prison. He established his name as a synonym for "traitor". It is, arguably, the worst and most grave insult a Norwegian can throw at another.

That guy, he is such a treholt!

tree lawn

a small patch of grass in front of a building or house, usually cut off from the rest of a lawn by sidewalk. Possibly called such because you could maybe fit one small tree there. similar to devil strip

a)"Yeah, that old couch is trashed. Put it out on the tree lawn, maybe someone will take it. Otherwise the garbage guys will probably pick it up."

Treps, short for entrepreneurs: people who take risks and build businesses. Use was started on Twitter, to help keep Tweets under the 140 character limit. "Treps" most often refers to people who start a business with a lot of passion and little (or no) money.

Treps are the REAL job-creators, not old guys in suits!

Nu-trek

Aka Nutrek or new trek. Refers to films and series of Star Trek made from 2009 onwards. Nu-trek is generally controversial with some hardcore Trekkies wanting to burn it to the ground and others showering it with praise. Nu-trek is a term typically used by the former but most Reddit posts about ST will have it somewhere.

Trekkie 1: JJ Abrams and Alex Kurtzman ruined Star Trek. Nu-trek is so political and dramatic and full of lens flares.
Trekkie 2: Nu-trek is quite good actually. I especially love Michael Burnham and the way the Federation is portrayed as less idealistic and more dystopian.
