This phrase was made famous by Christopher Walken in the SNL sketch "More Cowbell". He plays a famous record producer, who insists that Blue Oyster Cult increase the volume of the cowbell in their studio recording takes of "Don't Fear the Reaper".

Cordelia began as a spoiled, self centered, sarcastic rich girl who had it all and wasn't impressed by Buffy Summers. She became a part of the original "Scooby Gang" and was romantically involved with Xander Harris. After her parents were arrested for Tax Evasion, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. In Los Angeles she teams up with Angel and his new ally Doyle. Together they form Angel Investigations. Cordelia becomes a more complex character on the series "Angel" and eventually became the main love interest for Angel.
