The sound you make after seeing something so delicious that you just want to eat it all up (whether it is food or a female).

For a first-hand example, see the movie Role Models, when Augie is served chicken fingers.

In the movie Role Models, after his order of chicken fingers arrives at the restaurant:
Augie: *mmm num num num num num*

After seeing pictures of Avril Lavigne in Maxim:
Me: *mmm num num num num num*

mmm bye

It has become common practice for some people to preface bye with a "mmm" particularly when ending a phone call. I have yet to hear this occur in vis-a-vis interactions.
