posers

A poser is someone who tries to fit into a profile they aren't. People who try to give off the impression that they are one thing when they are really another.
Also, a poser can be one who says they can do something that they can't.
Or more commonly, a poser is someone who, when doing something successfully, takes more than enough credit for it.

Lots of types of Posers, for example The guys who hang out with skateboarders but can't actually skate, even though they have a board.

Poseur is the correct version of the more common "poser". The term is used for 2 reasons-

A) As an insult, used by one who is insecure and attempts to enhance their image by making people believe they have the authority to call someone else a poseur,

or

B) One who groups him or her self in a particular social clique in order to appear trendy or "edgy" but doesn't believe in the principals held by said clique and is only leeching onto it in order to avoid the social ridicule of not being part of a clique. A poseur will probably change their "style" once every 6 months, possibly more.

The common thread is insecurity- the insecurity to be yourself and be happy with it. Poseurs are the kinds of people who only appear "cool" to people who are just as insecure as they are. But no one ever found success lying to themselves for acceptance.

"Those mall punks are such poseurs, they have anarchy signs written all over their All-Stars, but nota single one of the retarded 8 year olds knows what it is, or that the sweatshopped armbands they all bought at Hot Topic support the system they claim to be rebelling against. A poser is a girl/guy who listens to a certain type of music or dresses a certain way to impress people or to fit into a certain crowd. often times people get mixed up with those who are posers and those who are not. If you go out buy a sk8r-boi sweatshirt and a skate board and go out on the town and ride around and some one shouts out " fucking poser" are you one ? NO! Come on people..you went out and bought the skateboard so you could...erm GET BETTER! Seriously how are you ever going to become a skateboarder if you dont practice and get better? *cough exactly* now in a different situation. Lets say you go out buy a skateboard...by the way you dont even know the brand of the board and you go out with your friends and just sit there while they do there little skateboarding tricks ... so basically you are just there to look cool..then are you a poser. Yah? yes!

emo posers

A bunch of retarded fags who pretend they're emo, search/google for emo bands on the net and download their songs and study their lyrics like mad and tell other people that the lyrics somehow "relate" to them, made up stupid sad sappy stories about their so-called love life (which actually doesn't even exist as they've never even had a bf/gf), they tend to over exaggerate their problems, cut their wrist JUST CAUSE every other emo kid does that, tell everybody; "Oh my god, I think I'm emo, I hate my life, everyone sucks, life is so sad, love sucks! *cuts wrist*"
