It was created to coincide with the Lego Ninjago line of construction toys, many of which are based on elements of the series. However, continued success of the series and its product line led to ten seasons being produced in total. The series' animation is directed at Wil Film ApS in Copenhagen, and the English-language voice cast is recorded in Canada.
