The day where all Canadians experienced a country-wide
internet outage, causing everyone to flock to the nearest mall or Starbucks for Wi-Fi. Public apparatuses such as ATMs and PoS systems were rendered unusable, forcing thousands of businesses across Canada to temporarily close. Critical institutions such as hospitals, fire stations, and police stations were unable to function properly.
Basically it was like the end of the world....but in Canada... and only for a day.
All this because we literally have THE worst telecom infrastructure on this planet. The
internet of 38 million people is controlled by two large corporations, Bell and Rogers, which means that half the country is fucked if either one of them stops providing
internet. Canada's
internet monopoly really needs to die (and also lower their damn prices).
