There are a couple meanings to this abbreviation "BG":
1) Commonly used in video games, bg is an abbreviation of "bad game" used by people who thought that the game/ round they played was a "bad game" (the opposite of gg).
2) BG is also the abbreviation of the country Bulgaria (which can also be referred precisely as BGR).
3) B.G. ("Baby Gangsta"), or Christopher Dorsey, is an american rapper and hip hop recording artist from New Orleans, Louisiana.
4) BG, in arts, or other subjects related to arts, bg is an abbreviation of "BackGround".
5) BG, in french, is short for "Beau Gosse" (Beautiful Kid), which is used, informally, to say that the child is beautiful. However, this can also be used in a sarcastic way; that the person is trying to act bg, although he really isn't bg (this bg is better used when speaking french, or speaking to someone that's bilingual in french and english. Otherwise, nobody will understand you...)
