from the Italian "citta" meaning city and English "slow". It is a new trend in living that started in the Italian city of Orvieto. The concept of Citta Slow or Cittaslow tries to promote quality of life by creating a more humane and ecologically correct environment, and thru enjoyment of food, art, theatre, community gathering places etc... The movement is a staunch opponent of globalization and the increasingly fast pace of life.
