Loi and
Gill are Sikh surnames. The Loi clan are descendants of the
Gill Jat clan and they originate from Hoshairpur ( village Pandori Ganga Singh) in Punjab. They were originally Gills, however during the Mughal empire invasion on Punjab, they decided to adopt a new punjabi surname as Loi. The Lois and Gills are the same, they carry the same heritage and have the same ancestors . The Lois
today mainly keep Loi, however some have decided to return to their original identity and original surname, as
Gill.
