media moth

A person whom flies toward any collection of reporters in an attempt to bring their personal issues to light on slow news days. Pest sprays only encourage them, and often draws other media moths to the infestation. Media Moths usually do something outrageous or unusual to draw attention then perform a slow spiral of self inflicted damage until their flame is extinguished by the scrutiny of people with common sense, or by a bigger news story.
Whoa, that media moth flamed out when the newshounds started chasing another story.

Media-Zombie

A person who is influenced by the media's bias on any given topic. These people are very naïve and accept the information thrown at them without feeling the need to do their own fact-checking and research to formulate their own opinion. A non-freethinker.

These people are like Zombies in many ways. The first is as mentioned before - a non-freethinker. The second is that they go after others and spread the misinformation they received from the media in groups. They prey on others and spread this vile disease.
The media-zombies are out ransacking businesses due to the fear-mongering on CNN.

Oh man, he actually thinks intelligent design is a valid scientific theory? He got media-fucked up the ass.

Media Blackout

Noun. The act of avoiding the use of forms of social media or other technological means of communication, especially the internet and television. This can be done for various reasons, such as not wanting to a spoil a movie one has not yet seen, reveal the score of a sporting event, or be aware of news events that one feels are best not known about.
The sheer amount of "this person got shot and this guy sent pictures of himself naked online" on my local news caused me to go into a media blackout for a few days.

media manipulation

The practice of claiming that one or more media outlets lean to the left or right of politics in an underhanded effort to sell advertising for large corporate conglomerates. Often accompanied by the overt insinuation that 'normal' people are stupid and can't recognize any bias in any way or make their own decisions about the 'news.'
I sure wish I could tell if NPR or Fox news was biased or practiced media manipulation, but being such a dumb average American, they probobly know best. I'll let them tell me what to think.
