the ball is in your coat

A misrepresentation of the term The ball is in your court, as said by our fine Japanese colleagues. Its just funny to think of an actual ball being in your coat.

Employee # 2: No, I'm waiting for information from their end. The ball is in their coat.

The ball is in his court.

When you tell a guy/girl that you like them but they are perhaps unsure of what to do or say. For example they may say 'it doesn't make a difference'. It's up to them what they do, they know that you like them, they might make a move, treat you as normal or never talk to you again.
"Girl 1- I really like you!

Guy - It doesn't make a difference. =]

------

Girl 1 - I told him I liked him but he said it doesn't make a difference.

Girl 2 - The ball is in his court.

The ball is in your court

the Origins of this phrase are as yet, unconfirmed. But is believed to have been first said somewhere in the south of England

a non-confrontational way of saying "it's your turn" and can be adapted as in his/her/their court.

Gareth: the ball's in your court, man.

The Ball is Rolling Uphill

This is a phrase you say when everything is going your way - things are looking up - there are challenges ahead but it is looking more and more likely that you will be able to overcome them. It can also be used as an action phrase - "time to get the ball rolling uphill".
"Looks like we finally got approval for our innovative but risky product! The ball sure is rolling uphill!"

You actually don't have to take that test today! The ball is rolling uphill!

We really need to get the ball rolling uphill if we are going to get done on time.
