The worlds top 1 in all sorts of extravagant expenditures is dubai, city of festivals and highly expensive fireworks as seen in Dubai New Year's Eve Fireworks 2012!!

Dubai 

A very modern, sophisticated, fashionable city in the United Arab Emirates. I'm pretty sure it's still second in population to Abu Dabhi, but its stunning architecture and economic power more than make up for that.

Dubai is a very wealthy place, and to be honest, the amount of money that goes in and out of that place- and more importantly, the kind of extravagant & pointless shit they spend it on- is just completely ridiculous.

I'd compare it to Miami of the middle east, with less old people I guess.

be warned though, UAE isn't as civilized as America or the UK & and some of there laws are still pretty lacking

There was a french boy who got raped on a beach in Dubai and tried to report it to the police, but HE got thrown in jail for illegal homosexual activity. That's fucked up, huh

Dubai is a medium city, which was basically built as a tourist attraction. Some of it's many many many huge attractions include Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Ski Dubai, Dubai Mall and many many more.
People say it is not a good place to live. Well obviously, that's because it was BUILT AS A TOURISM PLACE. People say that Dubai is full of racists. It is NOT, being an Indian or a dark-skinned person in Dubai is respected. Dubai is NOT known for it's sexual abuse, as some people say, as much as California, or other American states.

Dubai, all in all, is a wonderful place to visit, and it's many shopping and entertainment centers will provide you and your family with lots of fun.

OMG, I like TOTALLY LOVE DUBAI, because I've actually lived here for 12 years, and know WAY more about it than the people who write on urbandictionary.com and think they know it all!

A city in the United Arab Emirates (aka the middle of the desert) with lots of fancy architecture and artificial islands. Dubai was a noname town 20 years ago, but now suddenly wants to be on par with cities such as Chicago or Seoul.

Despite its "heavenly" appearance that its wealthy owners constantly brag about, the city faces many issues. About 80% of its residents are migrant workers who built the city but get paid jack shit and sleep eight to a room. They're not much better off than slaves. The city's economy and culture is completely built around tourism so naturally prostitution is very present in Dubai, despite being illegal. Children often are forced into being camel jockeys and are sometimes physically and sexually abused. Homosexuals get executed when caught, since being gay is illegal in the UAE.

The city will soon be home to the completed Burj Dubai, the world's tallest skyscraper. Also the tallest building in history to be built entirely by slave labor.

Joe: Wow, I heard Dubai went up in less than a decade? Isn't that amazing?

Shmo: Not really. It's not that hard to build a city when you have 1.3 million slaves doing it for you.
