The hugely talented lead guitarist for the band Metallica. Not the greatest guitarist in the world (despite what musically ignorant 10 year olds believe) but very fast and good at licking James Hetfield's boots.
The first song that Kirk Hammet wrote for Metallica was Enter Sandman which sucked. He should just play the main solos and let Hetfield write them.

Kirk Hammet
One of the best technical guitarists who plays for the band Metallica. He started off in a garage band called "mesh", then Exodus and Joined Metallica in 1983. He does ripping solos and playing at lightning speed.
Metallica would be nothing without Kirk Hammet. James Hetfield is a great guitarists and all, but Kirk Hammet superior

Kirk Hammett
A San Franciscan guitarist, who started playing at the age of 15 on his brothers guitar. Once gaining enough skill played in a couple bands, Starting Exodus in the process. He later flew to New York to join with Metallica and has become one of the most influential and copied lead guitarist of all time. Is very well known for his "fuck off" attitude and lightning fast fingers. Also being recognized as a prominent surfer, and studier of zen. Plays his guitar 364 days of the year.
