- to avoid autodialers,
- to prevent harvesting / resale of their phone numbers,
- to make it more difficult for flaggers to find their multiple ads by searching on their phone number.
Origin: Supposedly, prostitutes who use CL to advertise in multiple cities or spam / overpost in one location originated the technique.

A closed comprehensive school in the North East of England with a certain reputation for its students and staff, fights, hideous all-green and black P.E kit and pink cake and custard. Closed in 2011 following Tory-LibDem government cuts in a bid to save a bit of cash to merge with nearby Ryton Comprehensive to form Charles Thorp Comprehensive (which was never accepted by the last students to finish in 2012; Hookergate 4 lyf).
