Tomodachi Life

A game for the Nintendo 3DS that I personally love. It strongly resembles The Sims, and somewhat resembles Animal Crossing. In the start of the game, you are given an island that you name and control. After that, you add a "Mii" that becomes your lookalike. There's many interesting ways to do so: you can take picture of yourself (and let the system fill out a Mii with your facial features), upload a Mii that you've created in the official Mii maker or start from scratch. The best part of adding a Mii I would say is giving them their own personalities. Once you've created a Mii, it gets needy: they want you to cheer them up if they get sad, feed them, give them stuff, make decisions for them and play with them. Something I fancy about the game is the different events like the Rap Battle. If I had to choose between The Sims and Tomodachi Life, I would choose Tomodachi Life since you are more of an observer than a controller. I also find it cool to see how advanced Mii's are now.
"Hey! I'm considering buying Tomodachi Life."

"My lookalike's personality in Tomodachi Life is an Outgoing Trendsetter."

Tomodachi Life

The Sims and Animal Crossing had sex in an apartment, and the resulting child was the addicting monstrosity that is Tomodachi Life - a life-sim video game where you attend to an island filled with Mii characters living very odd and seemingly boring lives. The best part is the food descriptions, though.
Girl: Dude, how long have you been playing Tomodachi Life
Guy: *checks watch* Oh God - five hours without a break.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream

Nintendo Switch game released on 16 April 2026 which is also backwards compatible with the Switch 2 and the third game in the Tomodachi series. It lets you create Mii characters, who live in individual houses on an island unless it's combined after you set family relations, solve their problems for food, clothes, etc and have crushes, which then goes into falling in love, to marriage, then kids which can either stay in the island or live somewhere else (deleted). If you solve the problem, you get happiness as well as warm fuzzies which go into the Wishing Fountain, which also can be used for gaining donations, to increase the Island rank and number of wishes when the jar/amount of warm fuzzies is either full, halfway, or filled up above the limit in the jar a number of times to make the Wishing Fountain full. You can set Miis' gender as male, female, or non-binary, and also set their sexual preferences. There are also little quirks as part of level-up gifts and they have more advanced speech then the previous game thanks to the Island dictionary. You can also create custom foods, pets, video games, etc. to give to your Miis. You can also drag and drop Miis to interact with other Miis and objects. There is also an island builder which you can customise the island into anything you want, with different land, pathways, etc. There is a limit of 70 Miis unlike the previous game and after adding more Miis, the island's land expands.
