Anime

Put quite simply. It's Japanese animation, An animated series/movie with the "Made in Japan" lable. But, it isn't that simple. Anime usually has a far deeper storyline than western cartoons, wich usually rely on gags and humor. That doesn't mean that if something is anime, it is good(I personally would never like to see or hear the word pokemon again). Also, because Japanese television isn't as censored as American TV,(come to think of it, I don't think any kind of television is as censored as USA's, I'll check on that)so many "concerned parents" believe that anime is nothing but violent porno, which is not true.

Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop, .Hack//Sign, and Trigun are good examples
