obfun

Obfun is short for "obligatory fun." It refers to the ice-breaking activities that are injected into all-day seminars oe conferences either to make it more interesting to the participants, to remove any sense of dignity that might remain, and to lend variety to the activities.

The all-day conference consisted of six hours of lectures, and three occasions of obfun in which we lowered Hula-Hoops over each other, wore silly masks, and pretended that we were a herd of lemmings migrating for survival.

Transylvania effect

The Transylvania effect is the folk belief that more craziness in behavior occurs when the moon is full. This belief is not supported by evidence, yet is widespread.

jolie blonde

The archetypical Cajun song, supposedly written by a prisoner about a beautiful woman who left him for another. It is considered the unofficial Cajun anthem. The painter George Rodrigue made an especially touching and effective painting of this fictional character, who has replaced the insipid Evangeline as representative of the Cajun sensibility.

It's not a fais-do-do (impromptu dance attended by people of all ages) unless the band plays "Jolie Blonde."

buttocks décolletage

Buttocks décolletage is a fashion in which the person deliberately wears her jeans or other clothing short or low enough to expose the upper part of the cheeks and crack.

The dress I tried on allowed too much buttocks décolletage, even for the Gulf Coast beach hangouts.

To go to sleep. Used in French Louisiana and New Orleans. Pronounced "doh-doh," as opposed to doo-doo, which means feces.

PMS card

This is the use of PMS (premenstrual syndrome) as an excuse by some women for ill-tempered behavior, usually with the audience being some guy who could not handle this kind of display..

Sherry habitually played the PMS card to account for her outbursts. She would seemingly be having two periods per month.
