the process of imagining a sound. to audialize the sound and be able to "picture" it.

also known as audiation according to a 1970s theory by Edwin Gordon.

many of the world's greatest composers had an innate ability to picture a sound in their "mind's ear." To audiate that sound. "audialization."

used in music production terminology to mean a more intense, perhaps even more aggressive bassline and/or kick drum/snare

a hard trance kick with lots of energy.

the quality of a certain type of audible distortion on certain kick drum samples. can have an indication that the distortion affects bitdepth. but can also be a type of overdrive.

the kick drum had a distinct fuzzy distortion on the low end.
