Something the grief/tragedy/sympathy industry wants people to fear, like the coronavirus, the crime rate, and the boogeyman.
The grief/tragedy/sympathy industry tells people that if they don't fix the aging infrastructure now, put on a mask/get a vaccine, install a security camera, or ward off evil spirits they will have a tub filled with raw sewage, a respiratory system filled with the coronavirus, a visit from a violent criminal, or a visit from the boogeyman. Nobody lives forever, so why would anybody take the news without a grain of salt, even if some of those things really can and do happen?

Whenever cops are handing people free money in cash, even if it's around the holidays, and don't want their faces shown, it makes some people wonder where the money came from and why they're really so eager to get rid of it. At least the ones that aren't unsuspecting.
Nobody would pay a business in kindness, so people must wonder why cops are all of a sudden being as "kind" as they are in some cities. The people that haven't taken anything from anybody aren't going around handing out $100 bills, even if they are rich.

Though auto racing is not a true sport (just like golf is not a true sport) the people that think football events have the most brutal or horrific injuries don't know what happened to Russell Phillips.
What happened to Daryl Stingley was hard to watch, but people were puking in the stands and fainting after watching what happened to Russell Phillips. Had he imploded, it might have been more brutal to watch, but it's hard to think of something more brutal that could happen to somebody that thought/hoped they were just going to win something and then go home afterward that day.

A Confederate Flag doesn't make some kid want to start a race war, it's just a piece of cloth. Lots of people that don't try to start a race war have one in their yard, so it can't be the flag that makes somebody like that.

The girl that thought she was Cantaness from Hunger Games and thought her bow and arrow was a toy and shot the other girl with it at the swim meet laughed about it afterwards, it didn't seem real.

A science that doesn't pretend to be fact or accurate (like real science), where someone could say just about anything and people would still think it sounded good, kind of like religion.
People like astrology for the same reason they like religion, it's bullshit that sounds good (and doesn't have to come with a bunch of numbers that sound accurate like science or math). Calling it a pseudoscience is deceptive because it makes all other sciences sound responsible, true, and real when scientists are really the least socially responsible people, just like astrologers, except scientists are worse because people take their information as fact and not misinformation.

Not everybody had a 6th grade version of themselves that would kick the shit out of the adult version of themselves comromising everything, some people had a 6th grade version of themselves that wanted to become rich and powerful enough to force everyone else to compromise everything.
