SomeBadJOKE's definitions
A guy, usually between the ages of 15-30, who listens to emo music and have many of the characteristics commonly affiliated with emo people. They usually have semi-long jet black hair that covers about 1/3 of their face (including one of their eyes), may or may not wear eyeliner, and wear rather tight clothing, including tight jeans and tight shirts/sweaters, usually band merchandise. Many also have studded belts, and tend to like Converse or Vans shoes.
Now, about their personality. They usually have a bit of a feminine personality, expressing feelings quite openly, and not really caring about how "tough" they are, as most average guys do. Many are artistically talented, and like to write poetry and songs, or even draw/paint. It is often stereotyped that emo boys cut themselves, but actually, most don't. Those that do, though, do NOT do it simply for attention. They do it because of actual emotional issues they're dealing with. Otherwise they're simply emo posers.
They more often that not are very nice and respectful towards other people. However, most likely they would not be respected by many guys since upon first glance they'll think they're gay. I see this as ignorance, as in fact, most emo boys are NOT gay. Sure, some might be, but more often than not, they're either bi or just straight. Emo boys get along very well with girls for this reason, as girls not only share many of their views, but are also undeniably attracted to them.
I myself share some of the characteristics associated with emo boys. I like emo music, have a slightly soft personality, and get along well with girls. But, unlike the bad stereotypes given to emo boys, I do not cut, nor am I gay or bi. I want people to understand that emos are not all about being depressed and hating themselves. It's just an aspect of your personality that is often anti-stereotypical to an average guy's behavior.

"That emo boy over there is talking to another girl again. They both seem happy, and I'm sure the girl likes him too. I can see why."

Simply the best subgenre of metal out there. Combines the distorted guitars and powerful drums of metal with the beautiful symphonic sound of classical orchestra instruments, such as violins, pianos, cellos, etc.
Some great symphonic metal bands include: Rhapsody of Fire, Therion, Symphony X, Nightwish, Kamelot, Angra, and more

A band that tries way too hard to be emo (even more than From First to Last), and just turn out looking and sounding retarded in every way imaginable, with their corny-as-hell lyrics and very strange image.
Most of their fans are teenage girls who listen to Fall Out Boy just because they think Pete Wentz is hot, or suddenly got into Panic as well because the idea of teenage guys playing in a band (even though they're POP - just as much pop as Hillary Duff as a matter of fact) is irresistible.
Even so, some of their songs ARE quite catchy and can sound good, But.. if you really want to save yourself some embarrassment (and maybe even some of your brain..), then lay off this band.

Typical Panic! At the Disco fan: I LOVE PANIC AT THE DISCO!! BRENDON URIE IS SOOO HAWT!!1!
Person: Ok.. and is that the only reason you like the band?
Typical P!atD fan: NOO! They're soo EMO!! That's why I'm SOOOO EMO right now and wear black and cut myself every day!!!!
Person: Yea... I'm sure the band members do that too.. they just try way too hard to be emo ya know?
Typical P!atD fan: OH YES! They're definitely emo!! I'm such a punk rocker!1!
Person: .. Nevermind. *walks away*

A band that recieves a lot of hate from most self-proclaimed metalheads for some unknown reason. Because they're too commercial? Because they have no talent? Because they got a LOT of band members?? Because they wear MASKS??
Well, I will go ahead and reply to these:
1. Too commercial
Well, let me ask you something. When has anyone really played a Slipknot song on TV, the radio, or anything else?? Slipknot did not rely on mainstream help to get popular. They simply became loved by their fans and with their help, they became this famous. And what's wrong with a band being popular? Why exactly does being popular mean that a band sucks? Your "Metallica" and "Slayer" are no less famous than Slipknot, and no less commercial either, for that matter. But they're still kickass bands. So, who cares??
2. No talent
This is the most bullshit thing anyone can say about Slipknot. Go ahead and actually LISTEN to their songs for once, idiots. While it may not sound like it at first, there IS a lot of technical proficiency involved in playing those riffs. And, you say they got no guitar solos? I can name three:
1. Vermillion
2. Welcome
3. Pulse of the Maggots
Go ahead. Listen to them. Guitar solos right in your face. If that's not talent, then I don't know what is.
3. Lots of band members
Yes, I DO agree that some of them are quite useless, but they still help to make the music the way it sounds, even if it's a simple drum crash by Clown. They also help add to the band's image. And to those of you who say image is just a sellout device to get more money, then let me ask you - what bands besides grunge bands have ever not given a damn about image? Even Iron Maiden had quite an image to go with their music, and they're one of the greatest metal bands around. Who cares about how many members a band has, or what they look like? If they rock hard and please the fans, isn't that all that matters?
4. Masks
Most of the band members have shown themselves without the masks by now. So therefore, you can't say it's to "hide their ugliness" or "hide in embarrassment because they know they suck", which they don't anyway. Lead singer Corey Taylor and guitarist James Root also play in a second band called Stone Sour, and they don't wear masks there. Once again, the masks in Slipknot just add to the image. It shouldn't matter any more than the music.
In conclusion, Slipknot is an amazing, talented band that deserves more respect from metalheads everywhere. Just because they're a "new" band doesn't mean they suck. Take the time to listen to them, and you'll see what I mean.

Idiot: Pff Slipknot is such a fake nu-metal band! They've got no talent and hide their ugliness with stupid goth-wannabe masks!
Non-idiot: You're completely wrong. First of all, Slipknot has lots of talent, and if you listen to their new album, you'll actually understand (or maybe not >_> ). And second of all, they've all shown their faces already. They're not hiding anything.
Idiot: .. but.. 80s metal is the only good music around!
Non-idiot: It IS good, but it's not the ONLY good music. Go and expand your horizon, you moron.

1. A character in Soul Calibur 3 who is similar to the characters Charade and EdgeMaster from previous SC games, in that he can use the fighting styles of most of the other characters in the games (chosen randomly by the game).
He is a character who is supposedly one of the strongest warriors alive. He kills an owl that acted as a god's messenger, and as punishment, he was cursed with the head, feet, and tail of an owl. He was forced to live in a deep chamber where time does not pass. He doesn't get older, or get hungry or anything.
To fight him in the game's arcade mode (Tales of Souls), the player must follow a specific path depending on which character he/she is using, without losing a single fight, or winning the 6th match by ringout. If the player defeats him, he/she also gets to fight Night-Terror as the final boss instead of Abyss.

Contrary to popular belief, it's NOT Donald Trump's catch phrase. It actually belongs to Vince McMahon of WWE
