Lad

Lad is a word the Irish use for a young boy or guy. Bloke is usually the word you think of for a British guy, although words have been spread like herpes to where it's hard to tell who says what nowadays.

Lad

Australians also use both lad and bloke. British folks went to Australia, Irish folks went to Australia and now neither word is affiliated with a user. Australians flip a coin when they meet a young guy, if it lands on heads they call him bloke if it lands on tails they call him a lad. They might call him a Sheila if he's a punk though.

Are you a bloke or a lad, we're gonna find out right now, oh it landed on tails but you're no lad. You're a fuckin Sheila I can tell.

Filament 

Can be used to light or to cut.

They cut that boys head off over by the docks. A few people say they saw a bright and ominous beam of red light a few hours before the body was found, coulda been a laser weapon, a filament weapon, nobody knows yet.
