How to play "fingertips" (gently pressing your spread-apart fingertips against the other person's fingertips as a playful way of "kissing" him with your hands) with your chat-pal on Instant Messenger. You both just type the ten lower-case "o" characters --- spaced in two groups of five --- to represent the small rounded tips of your fingers on both hands.

feeler gauge 

Da measurement-scale of how "hands on" someone is when interacting with a fellow human.

Noting how someone acts around you when others are present is hardly a reliable "feeler gauge" --- you would need to see how well he keeps his hands to himself when you're just in a one-on-one setting.
