Fireteam

Military term, a squad is usually devided into fireteams (usually with 4 men each) and a Squad leader to command them.

Here is an example of a 11-man squad (in this example, Fireteam Green is a sharpshooter team):

-Squad lead

Fireteam Red
-Red lead
-Rifleman one
-Rifleman two
-Rifleman three

Fireteam Blue
-Blue lead
-Rifleman four
-Rifleman five
-Rifleman six

Fireteam Green
-Spotter and Green lead
-Advanced Marksman

Please note that certain terms etc. may differ between units. Eg, instead of Red, Blue etc. the fireteams may be designated Alpha, Bravo etc.
Squad lead-"Red, move two-by-two up to that berm, when you signal your clear, Fireteam Blue will move up on the left"

Red lead-"Fuckin' A sir, Fireteam, prepare to move up, Riflemen one and three, you move first, two by two, Rifleman two, on me"

slamfire

Military term, when a weapon discharges unintentially.

There are different types of slamfire, the most scary one is while loading and cocking the weapon, this could be due to a faulty trigger group which allows the hammer to be released along with the bolt carrier folowing right behind as though the trigger was pulled, or because of a free floating firing pin which carries forward with inertia, with heavy milspec firing pins and lame civilian ammunition the primers could be detonated just by this inertia.

Another type of slamfire known as doubling can be caused in the same way, this is when two rounds are fired instead of one. Sometimes this can be even worse and your whole magazine can be unloaded.

Several civilian shooters have been killed when a fully automatic weapon has been loaded with commercial ammunition and has unintentionlly fired when loading.

Inertia problems can be fixed by using real military ammunition instead of civilian or by switching to a lighter firing pin. Faulty trigger groups are a serious but rare problem and should be fixed by an armourer ASAP
"I was holding the Colt M1991A1 loosly and pointed off to my 10 o'clock as I inserted the fresh magazine, but when I released the slide to chamber teh first round the weapon slamfired, surprising me and taking a chunk out of the wall to my left, if someone had been standing there with me they could've been killed"

ASAP

As Soon As Possible

Originally a military term dating back to WW1 when abreviations were being used everywhere,

ASAFP may also be used when the speaker is distressed, making it "as soon as fucking possible"
"I need some fucking CAS runs in here ASAP, get some fucking cobras down here NOW and fuck up those goddamn T72s"

HEAT

Heat has several meanings as a word and one as an abriviation.

Heat as a slang term is commonly used to describe a weapon of some kind, usually a pistol. "You packing heat?"

Heat as in heat generated by an exothermic reaction is an increase in energy of particles causing them to move/vibrate more rapidly, in some materials this can cause electricity to flow more easily, for materials to melt then evaporate.

When an animal "goes into heat" they are at their most sexually active and reproductive time of the year, this would usually occur during the "mating season" of the particular animal.

As a military abrieviation, HEAT means High Explosive Anti Tank. This is a rocket or other explosive missile/shell designed to penetrate through a tracked vehicles armour before detonating it's explosive charge to disable/destroy the target. (For those of you wondering, there is such a thing as "low explosive")
"Hostile armour spotted, load up a HEAT round, let's take it out."

Gunshield

The most effective way of defending a soldier from enemy fire, even more effective than level 3A body armour.

The gunshield is a large square inch thick bullet proof block fitted to the front of a weapon, these can be painted camouflage or be made of transparent materials in order to keep good visablity. These can take several AP rounds before even cracking.

The gunshield can also be used as a bipod to support the weapon on any surface and when laying prone a soldier can be completely protected by the shield.

These gunshields can be made very light weight at only 3-5 pounds depending on what material is used. When moving forward, if moving crouched the shield can be kept between you and the enemy while you are still able to return fire, unlike body armour which has to be made flexible, gunshileds are made completely solid allowing much higher levels of protection.
"I couldn't see where the enemy was, but because I was laying down behind my gunshield I was protected from their fire until I could spot them, I was able to return fire while still protected, I wouldn't have survived the ambush if not for the gunshield mounted to my rifle"
