siamese twins

(n.) Twins joined toghether, sharing body parts or areas. Often, they share vital organs or limbs, and only one can survive. The origi is a pair of 19th cent. siamese babies that lived to be 70. They stayed together for thier entire lives, and even married twin sisters (not identical). They moved to the united states in the 1830's and worked in a circus. They eventually became farmers.

scum

(n.) An excellent piece of cinema from the late seventies showing some of the events that would happen in a borstal (prison for young offenders in the UK). I watched it in a religious education lesson when I was 14 or 15, and have seen it dozens of times since. It preaches racial harmony, good sportsmanship (see murderball) and the importance of a tool.

origins of words

If this dictionary is anything to go by, the whole concept of slang, and even the english language originated in 1980's LA.

the homophobic connotation of the word "gay", every weapon made after world war two, world war two itself, television, comedy and gangs all origianated in Los Angeles in the eighties if you are to believe some of the definitions here.

ungentlemanly weapon

(n.) any weapon that is designed to cause damage to anyone, regardless of whether they are general public or paid military. This includes all chemical and biological weapons, nuclear, and any other WMD. The weapons not included in this are those such as firearms, stabbing and blunt objects, hand grenades, fists and canons.

World War I was considered to be a gentleman's war until the German army tried out it's chemical weapons once stalemate had been reached.

Malvinas

(n.) Island group off the coast of Argentina. Commandered by Britain in 1834 as a re-fuelling post for down under and the south americas. Owned by Argentina for a short stint in the eighties, until Thatcher sent in the Royal navy and some sea harriers to destroy thier sorry military.


The correct term is "The Falkland Islands".
