hook up

1) to get together with someone with the intention of dating or having sexual relations with them.

2) to meet up with someone to hang out.

3) to "hook someone up" means to provide that person with some kind of item or service, often of an illegal nature.

1) "I hooked up with my girlfriend when she used to live next door to me."

2) "We'll hook up with you guys later at Cassidy's."

3) "Hook me up with an Alpine sometime if you can."

describing someone who is under intense or extreme pressure.

primer

alcoholic beverages consumed at someone's house/residence before an evening of partying at a bar or nightclub, the premise being to save cash which you would otherwise have to spend at the establishment in order to get fully buzzed.

describing something done in a casual or informal manner; also, something said or done quickly or in passing.

"I just processed that order on the fly without making any notes."

"I don't remember mentioning anything about the party to Jenn's sister, must have said it on the fly."

you snooze, you lose

an expression which states that anyone will miss out on a great opportunity if they don't remain aware or open to communication.

"I tried to call you about those concert tickets, but there was no answer...guess you were still crashed out.... so I took Marsha instead.
We had an awesome time, both at the show AND afterwards! :)"

"oh well, you snooze you lose I guess."

gotcha

a reply of acknowledgement, a verbal abbreviation of "I got you", which is derived from "I got what you're saying".

me: "I'm staying in tonight."
her: "why? you not feeling well?"
me: "nope. I'm cuffed."
her: "gotcha. oh well don't worry about it. I got cash. I'll be there in 5, see you soon."
me: "sweet."
