Dirty Diaper

A hand in Texas Hold Em which is a two three off suit. Normally it's a pretty bad hand. But it is a sneaky way to upset your friends on the right flop. If executed correctly, it's one that you will remember at your home game for years.

Erik: "Do you remember that time I got you with the Dirty Diaper in 2021?"

Ankur: "Yeah, I think about it every night before I go to bed. I turn on my night light and it makes me feel better"

Porch Beers

Porch Beers originated during COVID when we couldn't hang out inside. It's a sacred time for middle-aged suburban dads to complain about their wives (and kids). It sometimes involves looking over your shoulder before asking your buddy, "But you said that to her?"

Dave: "Tough week at work. Porch beers?"

Ankur: "Hell yeah."

Erik: "Yeah man. I've been getting my B's busted. Let's do it."

Failover test

Something that software engineers tell their wives they have to do late at night but it’s really just an alibi to go out drinking with the boys.

I told Katie I had a failover test I had to do at work from seven pm till “hopefully not too late.” She bought it so now I can go out with the boys.

The Rick

When dealing Texas Hold Em, "The Rick" is when you deal all five community cards face down before the hand starts, as opposed to turning them over face up at the appropriate time. There is always that one sociopath at the home game who does it every time he deals. The more people complain, the more it fuels his antisocial behavior. It does not change the outcome of the hand, but it is profoundly upsetting.

Bobby: "Dude, don't Rick us."

Devin: "Yeah man. It's the worst. Everyone hates the Rick."

Rick: "Your boos mean nothing to me. I've seen what makes you cheer."
