What seems to be the lowest point possible, but probably isn't.

After the latest adventure by the Bush and company, Joe's opinion of the United States government hit rock bottom and commenced vigorous drilling.

redrum 

Word used in the novel "The Shining" by Stephen King and in the movie based on it and directed by Stanley Kubrick. "Murder" spelt backwards. Also works on many other levels, being suggestive of bloodshed, wrath, inebriation, violence, a force that consumes people's lives like some satisfying drink, and something used to subdue the Native American tribes that form a subtext of the film.

affluent 

1. Wealthy.

2. Drunk, as in under the affluence of inkahol. (Meaning the influence of alcohol, as might be mispronounced when inebriated.) Also associated with the other meaning because either condition (ought to) make your troubles float away.

Give him five shots of whiskey and he's affluent.

To play the banjo with someone; to try to make friends with someone who isn't going to be friends or who keeps dodgy company, typically rough, bigoted or violent. From the banjo duet in John Boorman's "Deliverance".

Although they had been making funny noises at me across the square, I just had to play the banjo with those guys. I regretted it within the week.

The plaice was three inches long and had a maggot in it. Why are we reduced to these boarding school rations?
