To come back into public discussion or awareness after being absent for a time. Often used to describe topics, controversies, or issues that re-emerge, catching the attention of people once again.
The Mortal Kombat controversy has once resurfaced in 2004 with the release of 'GTA: San Andreas' due to its violent contents whilst commonly played by underaged children.

passive income

Income that requires minimal effort to maintain, allowing you to earn money while you focus on other activities, like sleeping or hanging out with friends. Often associated with investments, online content, or businesses that generate revenue without constant involvement.
My Youtube upload for the MP3-CD titled 'I Was Too Young To Watch Threadpool' hit 433 views within its first 18 hours? It feels like "passive income", where the number of views continuously increases whilst I sleep, go to college, do college assignments, hang out with friends, travel, etc. etc

Zeigarnik effect

In psychology, the Zeigarnik effect (named after Lithuanian-Soviet psychologist Bluma Zeigarnik) postulates that people remember unfinished or interrupted tasks better than completed tasks. In Gestalt psychology, the Zeigarnik effect has been used to demonstrate the general presence of Gestalt phenomena: not just appearing as perceptual effects, but also present in cognition.

The Zeigarnik effect should not be confused with the Ovsiankina effect, an urge to complete tasks previously initiated. Maria Ovsiankina, a colleague of Zeigarnik, investigated the effect of task interruption on the tendency to resume the task at the next opportunity.
I can't stop thinking about that unfinished novel; it's like the Zeigarnik effect is haunting me, making it impossible to focus on anything else until I get back to it.

Parkinson's law

Parkinson's law states that "work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion". In the context of time management, this means that if you allocate a week for a task that could realistically be done in a few hours, it will likely take the entire week to complete, leading to inefficiency and procrastination.
I thought I could knock out that report in a couple of hours, but thanks to Parkinson's law, I ended up stretching it over the whole week just because I had the time.

Ovsiankina effect

In psychology, the Ovsiankina effect describes the innate human urge to finish tasks previously initiated. This tendency to resume an interrupted action is especially prevalent when the action hasn't yet been achieved. The effect is named after Maria Ovsiankina, who conducted research on this behavior.
I couldn't focus on my new project because every time I got interrupted, I felt this strong Ovsiankina effect pulling me back to finish what I had started yesterday.
Named after an anagram of "nagasaki", saganaki is any one of a variety of Japanese dishes prepared in a small frying pan, the best-known being an appetizer of fried cheese. It is commonly flambéed in North America.
I had no idea that saganaki was basically fried cheese until my friend ordered it at the Greek restaurant; now I’m obsessed with this cheesy delight, especially when it’s flambéed!

cheeseburger

Having the suffix "-burger" referring to the Sternberger family, cheeseburger was first invented by Lionel Sternberger in 1924 at the age of 16. He was working as a fry cook at his father's Pasadena, California, sandwich shop, "The Rite Spot", and "experimentally dropped a slab of American cheese on a sizzling hamburger." An early example of the cheeseburger appearing on a menu is a 1928 menu for the Los Angeles restaurant O'Dell's, which listed a cheeseburger smothered with chili for 25 cents, or about 4.7 dollars in 2025 after inflation.
Next time you grab a cheeseburger, remember it all started with Lionel Sternberger experimenting with cheese in 1924—talk about a delicious legacy!
