Followup glances

When someone interesting enters your view, you give them a serious look. Then you notice the person or some others nearby have noticed you staring. So you immediately look around at others in your view so the noticers think that you are not stairing but instead looking equally at everyone nearby. A little like the Package Peakin Wiener Gazer (but not much).

Look at Jeff. He was eyeing that hottie that's way out of his league and now he's doing a few followup glances at others to hide his foolery.

hindsighter

Someone who is quick to make a suggestion about what to do or what he would have done in a situation that has already happened.

Bill: Yea, I opened my car window and forgot that my application was sitting on the seat, and it blew right out the window.

Dan: What I always do is before opening my window is look around and see if there is anything that can blow out.

Bill: (Thinking) What a hindsighter you are.

Guilty until alternate suspect principle

The idea that someone is guilty unless they can come up with another person who is either guilty or a strong suspect. The idea is usually based on an imprecise process of elimination.

Parent to child: Did you do it?
Child: No.
Parent: Well if you didn't do it, then who did?
Nearby observer: Ah ha, she's using the guilty until alternate suspect principle.

creeping rationalization

When a person is given permission to use something only in an emergency and their rationalization of what constitutes an "emergency" becomes laxer and laxer each time they want the thing.

I told Bob he could use my car only in an emergency but last night his creeping rationalization made him think that missing the basketball game was an emergency.

need to let 'um soak

What you say when (1) you're supposed to have washed a bunch of big cooking pots, (2) you don't and just fill them a little with water, and (3) someone asks why the pots have not been washed.

A: Hey! Weren't you supposed to wash all the dishes last night. B: I did except for these, I need to let 'um soak. A: You are so lazy.

bomber pilot

When a male is standing up peeing, playing bomber pilot is the fun act of rotating back and forth trying to cut a piece of toilet paper in half with the stream (of bombs).

After my mom took a leak, she usually didn't flush, so the next of us kids got to play bomber pilot with a lot of targets.
