Regressotech

Noun or adjective; refers to new technological devices or systems promoted as progressive when they actually don't work as well as the device or system that they replaced.

Owen remembered a time when most sinks in public bathrooms had handles with which one could turn on the water and adjust its temperature and flow. The new regressotech sinks have motion sensors instead of handles, the user has to wave his or her hands in various ways in order to activate them, and the flow of water is generally very brief.
