Mihai Eminescu was a late Romantic poet, novelist and journalist, often regarded as the most famous and influential Romanian poet.

In his poems he frequently used metaphysical, mystical, mythological and historical subjects.

His poems and short stories also regard concepts such as reincarnation and the eternity of the spirit. He never identified himself as a Christian and his poetry rather indiscriminately uses Buddhist, Christian and other themes, found also in the Bhagavad Gita and Upanishad.

Perhaps the least known side of Eminescu was the mystical one. He was a very spiritual person and more often than not he would give his clothes or shoes to a person in need.

Besides being an absolutely phenomenal writer and thinker, Eminescu also had a powerful influence with his political articles, which were published in local newspapers at that time in Romania. His articles were considered a threat to the Powers at the time because of his nationalistic views. The circumstances of his death are ambiguous and it is possible that his death was caused by the political reasons at the time.

He is highly honored in Romania as a national poet and enlightened being who has changed the direction of romanian literature and thus the consciousness of the romanian people.
Mihai Eminescu was one of the greatest beings alive on planet earth. Be glad for living on the same planet. :P
