What is the purpose of a Fidget Toy?
Fidget toys are often used to provide sensory input in a less distracting way. They can help improve concentration and attention to tasks by allowing the brain to filter out the extra sensory information (e.g. listening to a lesson in the classroom, paying attention to a book during circle time, focusing during a business meeting or just simply used to help assist with anxiety and stress to calm your mind).

Fidget toys are self-regulation tools to help with focus, attention, calming, and active listening. Our colorful fun fidget toys are something that will benefit many people. From people with Autism, Aspergers, ADD, ADHD, Anxiety, OCD, Depression or any adult that has stress at work or home - fidget sensory tools have the ability to help with focus and relax you with the simple movements and many different styles to choose from. Sitting at a desk at school or work or sitting in a room full of people you don't feel comfortable around, this unique fidget toy will help alleviate the anxiety and stress. By having a fidget toy, a person may be able to better ‘filter out’ excess sensory information in their surroundings and their own body, which is causing distraction, and encouraging this sensory information to be focused on a Fidget toy in the hands.

Fidget Sensory Integration

Fidget Sensory Integration is the neurological process that organises sensation from one’s own body & from the environment when using a fidget, this makes it possible to use the body effectively when using a sensory tool. We are constantly receiving sensory information from within our bodies and our surrounding environment. We receive sights, sounds, smells, tastes, touches and feedback from our body about movement, balance and our position in our surroundings. These senses all work together, to help us get a sense of who we are, where we are and what is happening around us – hence the term INTEGRATION. You may be familiar with some of the concepts and terms of sensory integration, such as sensory processing, modulation and regulation. In many of life's situations, children & adults are ‘seeking’ extra sensory input they may otherwise not be receiving from their environment. The concept of fidget toys is based on this, where children & adults are seeking things to touch and feel, to provide the ‘just right’ amount of sensory input, to calm their nervous system. Fidget toys are often used to provide sensory input in a less distracting way. They can help improve concentration and attention to tasks by allowing the brain to filter out the extra sensory information.

Sister: This meeting was to discuss the rough draft of my essay, where we discussed the subsidiary questions I added in my rough draft. We also discussed the relationship between my main title and the real-life situations I chose to use in my essay. We discussed the structure of my essay as well, specifically the Math AOK section and how it relates to the contradiction of the title. This second meeting was particularly helpful in discussing the implications of my essay claims and how to apply the title across various areas of knowledge. There were many sections of the essay that could have been cut down in wordiness and the ways of knowing required further and more in-depth analysis.
